On 22^nd February NAS launched a new viral advertising campaign starring Marco Pierre White – as if he hadn’t done his Apprenticeship. The three viral adverts show Marco as ‘The CCTV Chef’ working in a burger van – a very different life than the one he lives today. The humorous adverts highlight the value of Apprenticeships and aim to inspire young people to find out more about the Apprenticeship opportunities available for them. Macro is a fantastic advocate of Apprentices and is really passionate about them being the best way to train young people in his industry. http://www.youtube.com/user/ApprenticeshipsNAS. They will also be running on lots of youth focused websites over the next few weeks.

 

To launch the adverts we invited 15 apprentice chefs to London from around England to meet with Apprenticeship Minister Iain Wright, Simon Waugh and People First CEO Brian Wisdom to talk about their Apprenticeships and give their feedback on their programmes and how they were progressing. The highlight for the Apprentices however was a full morning at Marco Pierre Whites’ Restaurant, Wheelers, to learn how to cook a range of dishes, talk to Marco about their careers and pick up some tips to take back to their jobs around the country.

•       Complete again the QCF Action Planner and return to jo@aspirelearning.co.uk by 10 March 2010 to identify distance travelled.

 

Also in addition if you have created QCF Learning Plans for any of your learners I would be grateful if you could let me have copies as we need to evidence that  providers have created a minimum of 80 to meet the outcome of the project.  If you could also send these to the above email by 10 March 2010 I would be very grateful.  Please find attached a template which may help you.

We committed to publishing a list of those qualifications from which funding would be withdrawn on the LSC’s website in January 2010. In exceptional circumstances, for example where there is no alternative provision on the National Qualifications Framework or the Qualifications and Credit Framework, there will be an opportunity for awarding organisations to make a case for continued eligibility for funding until August 2011.

 

The list of qualifications and the process for making a case for continued funding eligibility for a further year will be available on the LSC website. A question and answer brief will also be made available shortly.
