The JISC RSC South East is delighted to announce the launch of its Future Gazing series of webinars. Each of these online seminars will be hosted by visionary experts from different fields of educational technology to present themes and topics that will have an impact on the delivery of education in years to come. Predicting what’s around the corner in our sector is tricky at the best of times. However, the aim of the Future Gazing series is to increase exposure to relevant concepts and technologies on (and sometimes beyond) the horizon that may have a profound effect on working practices in the near future.

With the recent changes in funding for higher education and the cost implications for students, we are all becoming increasingly aware that learner choices and expectations will be key factors for enrolment levels for both HE and HE-in-FE learning providers. Correctly predicting these learner choices will be vital. Consultant Ainsley Cheetham is a national expert in funding for education and will take the opportunity of this inaugural Future Gazing webinar to take some of the guesswork out of the enrolment process in the context of the new financial landscape.

Ainsley Cheetham has worked as a consultant with Network Training delivering curriculum support to colleges across the UK. Before this, he held the post of Assistant Principal of Business Development at the City of Bath College. He has worked extensively with colleges and more recently Learning & Skills Councils and College Training Providers on the development of curriculum and funding. Activities in this area have included cross-college curriculum modelling and reviewing the curriculum to ensure cost effectiveness and meeting the needs of learners, employers and national learning and skills targets.

The theme for this year’s JISC RSC South East e-Learning Fair – Lean Learning for Smart Teaching – will focus on the latest information and technology crucial to improving the learning experience at a time of spending cutbacks. To be held at Chichester College in West Sussex, the RSC SE’s seventh annual e-Learning Fair offers a packed programme of presentations, seminars and workshops covering a broad spectrum of relevant educational technology, in addition to exhibitors demonstrating cutting-edge solutions for improving teaching and learning across all sectors.

Delegate and Exhibitor Fees

Delegates who book by Monday 3rd October 2011 can take advantage of the early-bird delegate rate of £35, compared to the full delegate rate of £50. Exhibitor fees (which have remained unchanged since 2009) are £150 for a single table and £250 for a double table. Power and wireless internet connection are included in this price.

For those who have not attended the RSC SE’s e-Learning Fair before, the annual e-Learning Fair has become the premier gathering for all ILT professionals involved in post-16 education in the South East region. With a combination of nine seminars, keynote address, plenary, BBC-style ‘Question Time’ and a highly focussed exhibition, the e-Learning Fair provides an ideal opportunity to explore the latest issues and technologies as well as to network with colleagues in your field.
